WHY Invasive Aedes mosquitoes have the potential to transmit Zika, dengue fever and chikungunya to people. Year-to-date, there has been more than 60 travel-related cases of Zika in L.A. County. Preventative community outreach about the threat is an important part of the LA County and vector control districts’ Zika preparedness plan. The public health agencies’ partnership with Tzu Chi strengthens the commitment to prepare Los Angeles County for a potential outbreak.
