Community Focus: Lakewood TV Highlights Mosquito Threats

summer heat in cities can increase mosquito virus activity

August 6, 2015

It’s summer and two things are certain: Hot weather and mosquitoes.

Working with Lakewood TV, we highlight some of the issues mosquitoes pose in our communities. While most people can go a whole day without thinking about West Nile virus, it’s important that people are aware that this virus is being transmitted every year in our communities.

Our mission at vector control is to protect public health, but we can’t do it alone. If you notice any standing water in public areas like at a park or in a street gutter, report it to us. If you’re experiencing mosquito bites, contact us — our services are at no extra cost to our residents throughout the District.
